As a bride with her eyes on the prize (a.k.a. your upcoming wedding day), you want to look and feel your best! Whether you are starting a workout program or you want to focus on toning certain areas for your wedding dress, here are some tips for getting in shape for your wedding day!
- save the date
Looking at your calendar is important when I thinking about your workout program. How long do you have before your wedding day to see the results that you want to see? This will help you think about what you can achieve within your timeline.
- wedding bells and bicep curls
Will your dress have long sleeves, or will it have straps or be strapless? If you are looking for the latter, you may be thinking about seeing more definition in your arms. Strength training all major muscle groups 2 to 3 times a week for health is recommended for everyone. If you decide to focus on toning your arms, you may decide to work the biceps, triceps and shoulders multiple times a week to achieve your goals. Adding aerobic exercise to your weekly workouts will help to burn more calories to see the definition even better, and it may even be necessary in order to be able to see the difference from all of your work while doing your strength training.
- Love is in the pair
Mixing up what type of exercise you do on a regular basis will help your body to not hit plateaus so you continue to see results. A combination of strength and cardio will boost your metabolism, and it is recommended to include both for your health.
- Eat & be married
Another important piece of the puzzle when it comes to exercising is the food you eat. Here are some questions you may need to ask yourself: Am I eating the right type of food before and after my workouts? Am I eating enough calories for the amount of exercise I am doing? Am I eating too much carbohydrates, fat and/or protein that is being stored as fat since it is not utilized? What food am I choosing to eat that is healthy and unhealthy? Even if you want to lose weight, there is a minimum amount of calories per day that should be consumed to remain healthy, and you will want to avoid eating a Very Low Calorie Diet.
